Chinese tea culture is very complex and interesting. China has always put a strong emphasis on its tea.

There are traditions that go back several thousand years. You may know a little about these traditions. For others, it is very confusing.

The intricacies of tea and culture is very complex and changing.

Here are some examples of the interesting traditions associated with tea:

Respect

  • The first tradition is the showing of respect. Offering tea to an elder is a sign of great respect in Chinese tea culture. It is also a sign of respect to pay for tea rather than letting the elders pay for it themselves.

    Interestingly enough Chinese society is changing and it is okay for parents to pour tea for their children now. Naturally this shouldn't be expected, but one should feel honored if it does happen to them.

  • Tea may also be used in an apology. If one Chinese individual has done something wrong to another, then a way to apologize would be to pour tea for them.

    This is often seen among parent and child, as the child will pour tea for their parents to show regret, and to show them that they harbor the respect that is owed.

Family

  • The Chinese place great emphasis on family. In the Chinese culture today children may not often get the opportunity to see their parents.

    So because of this, it is customary for the children to take their parents out for tea when they do get the chance. tea leaves This typically happens on Sundays, as this is one of the few days an individual may be free.

    Chinese family values are extremely important, and tea does a great job of bringing those families together, if only for a few hours.

Wedding

  • During a traditional Chinese wedding, the bride and groom will serve tea to their parents.

    This is a way of symbolizing thanks to their parents.

    In other words, they have been raised properly, and now they are ready to enter the world.

This is yet another great example of Chinese tea culture, and one that is difficult to forget.

These are a few different examples of the tea culture in China. As you can see, the way tea is perceived in this country is very different from the rest of the world.
