Why Use English Teacups?
English teacups, the English countryside, gardens, castles and history. I think it is all rich, colorful and fantastic. Okay, I want a castle but not a damp, cold one. Nicely heated please! These Cups are Usually Fragile English teacups are usually not heavy or thick. They are fragile and delicate pieces that most likely are accompanied by a matching saucer. The handle is somewhat higher than those found on coffee cups and mugs and most commonly made of bone china or porcelain. Designs Many of these cups are colorful having hand painted floral designs. Roses are one of my favorite designs. Its beauty is that it brings a bit of romance into the everyday world. I like to drink my tea from one of these beautiful cups and think of walks through the English countryside. Or perhaps sitting by a fire in an old country estate. Where to Purchase There are the usual places to buy from such as Wedgwood and Royal Doulton. How about a slightly different approach to buying these cups. I bought mine while on a tour of Buckingham Palace. It was gorgeous, really expensive looking and elegant but it was reasonably priced. I purchased my other cup from the Tower of London after the tour. Again nicely done but I chose a bit more of a casual style. Both of these places have an online order department if you cannot get to London yourself to see these sites. Sharing of Traditions They are a way to share in the cultural traditions of our ancestors and to enjoy the beauty in a simple handcrafted item made to be used and appreciated.
We may never attend a high tea at the castle with the Queen (I did go on a tour of the castle..does that count?) We can each day, if we so choose, share something with our neighbors across the Atlantic.
