As A Tea Accessory?

The tea cozy is a cover for your tea pot to keep the heat in. They are part of a household that simply loves to have tea - particularly in England. Since I sometimes get lazy and use the microwave to boil a cup of tea, perhaps I need a “cup cozy”.

The History

The cozy started to be used in Britain in the late 1660's. As you may have seen in movies or stories about old England, afternoon teas were used as a way of socializing. With all the talking going on you can imagine that something was needed to keep the teapots warm.

Designs

There are many types available in an array of designs and patterns. Not only was this popular in England, but it to rose into popularity in North America.

They are also available in many styles and materials such as linen, wool, and others are even hand-knitted. The more expensive ones were embroidered by hand.

There are many designs of tea cozies available to go with every occasion that your household might have.

Patterns

Popular are holiday inspired designs of tea cozies such as red and green, mistletoes, snowman, white Christmas and Christmas trees.

There are also those designed for everyday use that is meant to go with the house decor such as floral, flowers and butterflies, geometric shapes, berries, fruits, simply just a mixture of colors like stripes.

It just seems like a nice tradition to have the cozy for your tea pot, even if just for decoration.
