Whistling Tea Kettles and Its Sound

Tea Kettle

Whistling tea kettles appeared at one point to be a thing of the past.

They were very popular in the forties and all the way up to the seventies. Then the trend began to change.

This actually posed quite a few problems for people who loved them. Some were practical and some sentimental.

The main problem was actually making the tea. How were you to know when the tea would be ready?

You could stand there and watch it but honestly have you ever stood by waiting for tea to boil?

If you have, like I have, then you already know a pot that is watched never seems to boil!

How They Work

Whistling tea kettles are coming back into style. The question is how do these devices actually work?

This is actually a matter of science, but here is the simple explanation:

    1. First of all you would fill your kettle with water and place it on the stove.

Naturally this is going to cause the water to heat. That is if you turn the stove on:)

    2. As the water heats, it will eventually come to a boil.

    3. The kettle will fill up with steam and have nowhere to go. It needs a way out.

Iced Tea 4. The steam will then move through the hole in the kettle.

By doing so it will emit a whistling sound.

This will become louder and louder as time goes by.

If you lift the kettle off of the stove, it will stop whistling.

When you put it down again it will start to whistle again.

When the kids were young they would think this was magic!

These are the basics of how the whistling kettle actually works. The question you might ask now is where you can get one.
