Throwing a baby shower tea party is a special event and sure tomake the mom-to-be feel extra special.

The great thing about this type of baby shower is that it is actually a theme that is appropriate for all ages to attend.

Selecting Invitations

The first thing that you need to do in preparation for throwing your shower is to select the perfect invitation. It will set the tone for what guests can expect from your event.

When choosing your invitation you have a couple of different ways that you can go. You can either purchase:

1. Pre-made invitations (usually can find reasonably priced)

2. Make your own invitations (if you have the skill, I always love a personalized touch..I don't have the skill though:)

3. Have custom invitations made for your event (can be expensive)

When picking invitations for your baby shower tea party try to tie in some theme related elements. For example, look for an invitation that has tea cups and tea pots on it.

Does the mom-to-be like a certain teddy bear or plan to decorate the nursery with a teddy bear design?

Perhaps choose an invitation that features teddy bears at a tea party. Also, you can frame it and give it to the mom as a memento and to hang in the nursery.

Planning Your Party

Once you have your invitations in the mail you can begin to plan your actual event. For a baby shower tea party you will obviously (of course) need the supplies to serve tea.

If you have a beautiful tea set, great! If you don't try looking through your local thrift stores for mismatched teapots, cups, and saucers.

Purchase some of those and create your own shabby chic set. I have started to do this and find I enjoy picking different styles and setting the table with them. Life is short, everything does not have to match:)

Party Decor

Once you have your tea drinking supplies you will want to think about the rest of the decor for your shower.

Centerpieces are a very important in your decor.

Using floral centerpieces is always a great option, but they can sometimes be expensive. I remember shopping for wedding centerpieces and they were expensive. We were able to get a good deal by going directly to the wholesaler. This may be an option for you.

Another great option is to create crystal bowls of different berries to sit at the center of each table. Surround those with smaller bowls of sugar and whipped cream that your guests can use to garnish their berries.

Party Activities

At a baby shower tea party it is also expected that there will be certain baby based activities.

A great activity is to have the guests make a baby t-shirt or onesie for the mother-to-be.

To do this you simply need to provide the supplies for the guests to craft their very own piece of clothing for the expected baby.

You will need blank T-shirts or onesies. From there you can also provide fabric paints, iron on rhinestones, iron on decals, ribbon, patches, and thread.

What to serve? Obviously you are going to need to have tea on hand for your guests. You may want to have delicate finger foods about like cucumber sandwiches, small fruit tarts, and pastries. How about cutting up pizza into small pieces? Be creative and have fun.

Simple and clean foods can really set the stage for a lovely tea party that your mom-to-be is certain to never forget!
