A birthday tea party, I think is a great idea. Sometimes coming up with an idea for a party can be somewhat difficult.

This is where an innovative option like throwing a birthday tea party might come in very handy.

People tend to think twice when I suggest this and then reply it is a good idea and different.

Planning A Party

The first thing that you need to think about in planning your party is the day and time that you are going to throw the party.

Tea time is typically in the afternoon so you you will probably want to schedule your event on a weekend.

This will make it easier for people to attend since it is not a work or school day.

My sister gave me a birthday tea party on a weekend so more people could attend. Especially those that did not live nearby.

Guest List

Once you have the date and time scheduled you will need to think about your guest list and invitations.

Typically, a tea party is an intimate event and you may want to keep the guest list small.

After you have your guests selected you can start to think about the fun things like invitations.

Invitations

Your invitations really set the stage for your party. Have fun choosing invitations that are going to coordinate with your tea party theme.

Also, coordinate with the color scheme that you are planning for your decor. Be sure that you get your invitations out at least two to three weeks before your party. You want to make sure people can make arrangements to attend.

What to Serve

Once your invitations are out you can begin to really plan the rest of your party. Obviously you are going to be serving tea at the event.

Try not to stick to one type of tea. Instead, why not look at getting a variety of different teas for your guests to choose from?

What will you use to serve your tea? A china tea set would be a nice thing to have, but not everyone has that.

For those who do not have their own tea set try this idea. It would be a good idea to actually go look for different tea cups, saucers, and tea pots.

It has become very popular to do a shabby chic tea set that features different patterns and colors together.

Choice of Food

What type of food will you serve to accompany your tea? Of course there are the traditional tea sandwiches that you can prepare but you do not have to limit yourself to those.

You might also want to offer a fruit compote, different flavors of quiche, scones and other freshly baked pastries.

It really is up to your own taste and the taste of the guest of honor to determine what you want to serve.

The Cake

Birthday cake is a staple at most birthday parties, but should you serve a traditional birthday cake at a birthday tea party? It is up to you. I personally would love a tea cup shaped cake!

Cupcakes are a very popular and a festive option. Additionally, you may want to look at serving a bundt cake, a pie, a tart, or even individual turnovers.
