The Elegance of English Tea Sets
English tea sets and all of their classic elegance have probably been been the focal point of many dining and sitting rooms. Their great intrigue continues to withstand the test of time. I usually have a sense of nostalgia when using or seeing a tea set. Adults and children alike have made use of these small sets of cups and dishes. They have evolved beautifully over the years since the idea of brewing tea was first thought of. The Dainty Beauty of the Tea Set- The tea set itself is a small suite of dishes typically consisting of:
1. Teacups and matching saucers 2. A sugar bowl 3. A pitcher or creamer for holding milk 4. Of course, the teapot. - A formal tea set, or tea service as it is sometimes called, may also include additional items such as:
1. A coffee pot 2. The waste or slop bowl for water 3. The tray for carrying the set. Although cutlery is not needed, teaspoons, sugar spoons, or a sugar tong should be included as a part of the service. The finest of all tea sets are most usually made of bone china, porcelain, or silver. The most exquisite and expensive sets usually belonged to the wealthy. Today tea sets are available in such a wide variety of different patterns, colors, and degrees of formality to suite your style. Many people choose to display their tea services all year round either in the dining room, parlor, or perhaps in an entire room devoted just to tea time. Tea parties continue to be a trend that is growing in popularity where people get together either at home or at tea houses and enjoy finger sandwiches, scones and tea with friends or with family.
