Cinammon Tea Bread Cake
Looking for a great tea bread recipe? Do you like cinnamon like I do? I especially love cinnamon toast. Did you know that cinnamon originates back to Sri Lanka? Through the years wars have been fought over it. Doctors have used it to treat patients for various aliments such as coughs and sore throats. It was even used to preserve meat and mask the smell of old meat. It sort of makes sense that the Egyptians used it in their mummies. My realtor advised me to bake a cake with cinnamon to make the house smell warm and inviting. Have you ever been to IKEA, the big shopping store? They make wonderful cinnamon rolls and buns. I associate that smell with IKEA, that and their Swedish meatballs. How about this version of a tea bread with cinnamon. 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup milk 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 cup self-rising flour 1/4 cup of melted butter Topping Melted butter 1/2 tsp. cinammon 1 tbsp. sugar Instructions1. Put the egg white into a bowl and beat until stiff. 2. Mix in egg yolk. 3. Thoroughly mix the ingredients in one at a time beginning with the sugar. 4. Mix milk and vanilla and slowly add to mixture. Add melted butter and sifted flour and mix gently. 5. Put mixture into a 7 inch greased baking pan. Depending on the occasion I like to use a heart-shaped pan or a fun holiday pan. 6. Bake in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes at temperature of 375 degrees. When cake is baked, remove from the oven then: 1. First brush the cake with the melted butter. 2. Put the sugar and cinammon into a bowl and mix. Sprinkle on top of cake. Serve and Enjoy!
